We pull your details ourselves. Nothing personal yet.

What this operation usually hauls

Local and regional freight in a straight truck: appliances, furniture, pallets for a distributor, last-mile delivery, moving jobs. Many stops a day inside the Houston metro rather than long empty stretches of highway.

What shippers and brokers usually ask for

  • Auto liability, often at the limit written into the delivery contract.
  • Motor truck cargo covering goods that belong to someone else.
  • General liability, because most of the work happens off the truck, on a customer's property.
  • Hired and non-owned auto, when helpers or subcontractors drive their own vehicles for you.

Coverage names below are general. What your contract actually requires depends on the shipper, the broker and the carrier. Alimar confirms it with you on the call.

What tends to drive the premium

  • Stops per day and drivers per truck. Frequent stops in traffic mean more small claims.
  • Whether you haul for hire or move your own goods. Carriers price the two differently.
  • Helper turnover, since every new driver goes on the policy.

Questions we get on the phone

It can change which carriers will look at you and how they rate the unit. Weight, radius and what you haul all matter, so we go over your actual routes.

DOT or MC number if you have one, the VIN of each box truck, and your driver list. Current policy paperwork helps us compare apples to apples.

Sometimes partly, sometimes not at all. It depends on your contract with them. Send it to us and we will tell you what it leaves on you.

Send the customer name and email. During office hours we work on it the same business day.

Call us with the VIN. We add it with the carrier and they confirm the change in premium. Do not run a new unit assuming it is on the policy until we confirm.

General answers, not a promise of coverage or price. Alimar confirms your situation on the call.
